COACH REESE DEVELOPS YOUNG GOALKEEPERS IN 4 AREAS:

Goalkeepers must focus on four major areas when training. Coach Reese spends time working on all aspects of training when preparing young keepers to play the position.

1. TECHNICAL

We will teach our goalkeepers all of the fundamental skills needed to succeed on the field. These technical skills will be taught in the correct manner as fundamentals and then reinforced through repetition in the form of fun and challenging drills and sessions.

2. TACTICAL

We will teach all of our goalkeepers how to manage a defense and a team within the flow of a game.  Keepers will learn how to deal with the various situations that they may face during their career. Communication, tempo, organization and leadership will be stressed.

3. PHYSICAL

Successful keepers must be in peak physical condition. Keepers must focus on a different set of physical skills than a field player. Keepers must be strong, quick and agile. Reaction time and reflexes will form the foundation of our fitness program.

4. PSYCHOLOGICAL

A successful keeper must be able to handle pressure, stress as well as hostile opponents and crowds. In order to stay calm and collected in difficult situations it is important to build a goalkeeper’s confidence by preparing them for any possible situation. A prepared and confident keeper is a successful keeper.
